| "Sound-wise the Unidisk SC is distinctively neutral...nothing draws to one side or the other. On the contrary you have a unit that has that special quality only very good units have; the feeling that everything about it seems just right. The Linn Unidisk SC has been a very positive acquaintance – both in terms of audio and video reproduction. The unit itself recedes into the background and does nothing but its job, but the way it does it is more than satisfying. If you’re looking for an excellent all-in-one player and control-unit and is considering to spend a substantial amount of money on it, you should definitely consider the Linn Unidisk SC. It’s simply an extraordinary unit that can be recommended without any reservations at all." |

| Basically brilliant, Linn..the Unidisk SC/Chakra combo makes multichannel simple. Two boxes do everything...this Linn combo is a fine real-world solution for those who want a quality multi-channel performance combined with easy operation..we haven't come across another piece of high-end multichannel kit that blends into its environment so easily, is so simple to use, or does such a wide range of duties with such style. Music? well, this is a Linn system, so it would be a shock if it didn't deliver on this count...each disc is delivered precisely as it ought to be. This Unidisk SC/Chakra pairing deserves much respect. Sonic fireworks are guaranteed. |

| " Pick a disc, any disc - It'll play it….the Linn Unidisk SC is 1) a preamplifier, 2) a surround-sound processor-controller, 3) a CD player, 4) an SACD player, and 5) a DVD player. The Linn does the things that I need done brilliantly well, and in ways that mean the most to me: Its regular CD performance places it among the best I’ve ever heard, and its SACD performance is the best I’ve had in my home, bar none. It does all that and plays movies with an apparently high degree of success, all for the price of Sony’s first SACD-only player. The Unidisk SC is a fun product, a good product, and a product some people can afford without robbing a bank. I’m impressed, and tempted as hell." |

Hand built in the factory in Scotland, this is a piece of equipment to inspire pride of ownership, from the way it looks and feels to the fact that it'll go on forever. Given the unique nature of the Unidisk SC, it's not surprising that it has no direct rivals. The nearest you'd get would be a very good universal player and a standalone AV processor, which together would easily come to the same kind of money as the Linn's £2,995 price tag. If you're looking for serious home cinema without all the fuss, as well as a stunning music source, this is an excellent buy. Just add amplifier and speakers, or an active package, and you're in business - and it's all done without any quality compromises." |
